HCA Maternal Navigation App
I led UX design for a maternal navigation app built to improve the pregnancy journey for patients by giving nurses a powerful tool to coordinate care, share resources, and track progress. While the app was designed around patient needs, its primary users were nurses who guided mothers through every step.

Challenge
Maternal care can be fragmented, with patients navigating multiple appointments, paperwork, and providers. HCA needed a centralized solution that streamlined the process for patients while equipping nurses with tools to simplify workflows, ensure compliance, and improve communication.
Solution
During an onsite visit, I observed clinical workflows and interviewed nurses to understand their challenges in supporting patients. Insights from these sessions shaped the design of the app that gave nurses structured pathways, reminders, and resource-sharing tools, all while keeping the patient’s journey front and center. High-fidelity screens emphasized clarity and ease, making it simple for nurses to support patients consistently and compassionately.
Impact
The app improved communication between nurses and patients, reduced missed appointments, and created a more predictable, transparent care journey. By empowering nurses with the right tools, the solution elevated both patient satisfaction and operational efficiency across HCA’s maternal health services.
